Steven Lim is an American YouTuber and internet personality.
He is best known for his work as a video producer for Buzzfeed, as well as his independent work with his own company, Watcher Entertainment.
The Origin Story
Lim was born on November 10th, 1990, in Ohio, and is of Chinese-Malaysian descent.
His mother is a worker at a local fast-food restaurant, and his father is a mechanical engineer.
During an interview, Lim said:

Lim studied chemical engineering at Ohio State University and graduated in 2012.
Upon completion of his major, he joined Procter and Gamble’s R&D department as an engineer. However, he soon found that he much preferred creating YouTube content, and he soon quit his job to focus on his internet endeavors in a full-time capacity.

On February 18, 2008, Lim created his YouTube channel. On January 24, 2013, Steven posted his first YouTube video, titled -“Secret to being a Baller.”
A great deal of Lim’s early content focuses on issues of ethnic and national identity, as well as the issues that are faced uniquely by Asian Americans.
Along with a number of comedic sketches and humorous observations, a lot of Lim’s videos dealt with questions that many young Asian Americans face on a daily basis.
One of his biggest early successes came with his video “Asian parents react to ‘I love you,’” wherein a number of Asian American young people talked about the last time they had told their parents that they loved them (if ever), and then called them on-camera to say just that.
The video was a runaway success, with over one million views in total.
The buzz generated by his videos was sufficient Buzzfeed became aware of him in 2015.
He joined their team in the same year as a junior video producer.

Lim initially continued to produce his videos with the theme of Asian American youth culture and anxieties, but it quickly became apparent that his material was failing to connect with a broader audience.
He, therefore, switched focus and began to produce food videos; in one such video, for instance, he and some of his colleagues hunted around LA for the best possible versions of a given dish.
Lim eventually managed to find a way to marry his niche of Asian American youth interests with his new culinary direction, and he was soon making videos where he took his colleagues to his favorite Taiwanese lunch spots.
He followed this with “Worth It” – a video series that focused on three different versions of one dish and their varying prices.
During an interview, Lim said about him joining BuzzFeed:
”I was extremely hesitant to join BuzzFeed at first. I was passionate about making Asian American content and I wasn’t sure if BuzzFeed would give me the freedom to do so. But the overwhelming reason of why I decided to take the job was because of the people there.”
Steven continued:
”It was a breath fresh air being around other creative talent, people who inspired me and challenged me to be better. And that’s what I’d encourage anybody in a creative field to do… find people who understand your struggles and can be there in the highs and lows with you.”

Watcher Entertainment
After Worth It became a massive success, Lim left Buzzfeed and founded his own company, Watcher Entertainment.
The company began producing videos that relied largely on unscripted and improvised interactions on such topics as travel and food.

Steven Lim got engaged to their girlfriend Tammy Cho in May 2021. The couple were married later the same year, in November. Cho is the CEO of Hate Is A Virus.
