Tomica Woods Net Worth $10 Million

What is Tomica Woods’ net worth?

Tomica Woods is an entrepreneur and record producer who has a net worth of $10 million. NWA was—at its peak—the most influential rap group in the hip-hop world.

Founded in 1987 by a group of Compton, California, locals, the individual members would go on to become rap icons.

Dr. Dre and Ice Cube are still some of the biggest names in hip-hop and entertainment.

Eazy-E is a rap legend, even though he passed away more than 25 years ago.

While Eric Eazy-E Wright was the one in the limelight, his widow has largely avoided the limelight since his tragic passing.

Comfortable running the empire her iconic husband helped build, there’s still a little we can discover about the first widow of gangsta rap.

The Origin Story

Tomica Woods was born on December 7th, 1969, in Los Angeles, California.

Her parents divorced when Tomica was young, and she divided her time between both their homes—as well as some time in foster care when her parents were unable to care for her.

After graduating, Woods worked in several departments in the music industry—at one point in the role of executive assistant to legendary music executive Clarence Avant, at Tabu Records.

When Avant made the move to Motown Records in 1993—where he acted as chairman—he took Tomica with him.

The outgoing and driven LA native has three children—one from a relationship prior to her marriage to Eazy-E and two children with the rap great.

Her son, Dominick Wright, was born in 1993, and her daughter, Daijah Wright, was born in 1995—six months after her father’s death.

California Love

Tomica met Eric Lynn Wright in 1991 at a nightclub in Los Angeles. Wright, at that stage, was already on a stratospheric rise to fame, having already released Straight Outta Compton and Niggaz4Life.

Straight Outta Compton had been deemed—and is still considered to be—one of the most influential albums in rap music.

The pair began dating, but Tomica was wary. Eazy-E had a reputation as a ladies’ man and already had 9 children by eight different women.

The pair would stay together for the next four years, eventually marrying on March 14th, 1995.

Eazy-E passed away 12 days later at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, after a short battle with pneumonia and HIV/AIDS complications. He had been diagnosed with an auto-immune disease during his hospital stay.

Following Eazy-E’s untimely death at 30 years old, Tomica inherited control of her husband’s record label.

Ruthless Records, the label behind NWA, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, and Bone Thugs N Harmony, continued to be a success by signing new acts like Stevie Stone, Atban Klann (who would go on to be known as The Black Eyed Peas), and Hopsin.

Although the label never experienced the same level of success with its artists as it had in Eazy-E’s day, it eventually secured major acclaim with the biopic Straight Outta Compton in 2015, and Bone Thugs N Harmony: Greatest Video Hits.

Accusations And Allegations

Eazy-E’s son, Eric Wright Jr., questioned the legitimacy of Tomica and his father’s marriage in a November 2017 suit.

In the suit, Wright Jr. noted that the marriage license didn’t include his father’s signature and that Wright Sr. had been under the influence of heavy medications at the time that he signed his will—which left everything to Tomica.

Woods, now going by the surname Woods-Wright, didn’t address the accusations publicly, although during earlier will contestation she issued a statement saying:

“It’s sad…a lot of people who claim to know him really didn’t. Now it’s like there’s nothing left but turmoil.”

In the wake of the new accusations, which followed the release of the uber-successful NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton, Woods filed a trademark infringement suit against Wright Jr.

In the suit, she alleged that Wright Jr. and his business partner tried to obtain a trademark for the online store owned by Ruthless Records Inc. She also claimed her stepson had used the Ruthless Records and NWA name for financial gain, and to promote his own events.

The matter was settled out of court in August of 2018, and the eldest child of Eazy-E agreed to stop infringing on the Ruthless brand. In return, he was allowed to keep the trademark for his own brand—Rich & Ruthless.
