America’s Test Kitchen
In 1998, she started to work as a test cook for America’s Test Kitchen. Later, Lancaster took the job as executive food editor for radio, television, and new media.
”I started as a test cook in 1998, and back then, there were three of us working in the test kitchen, developing recipes, washing dishes, and shopping for all the ingredients ourselves,” Bridget said in an interview. She went on to say: ”Over the years, I’ve seen the evolution of the test kitchen: the physical space, the increase in the number of test cooks, the testing process.”
”Julia [Collin Davison] and I were two of three test cooks for Cook’s Illustrated when the show launched,” she told WTTW. Bridget added: ”It began with ‘Oh yeah, we’re thinking about doing a show, you want to be on it?’ Actually, we didn’t even have a choice, it was just ‘You should be on it.’”
In 2012, Bridget started to appear on ”Cook’s Country from America’s Test Kitchen.”
In March 2016, it was announced that Lancaster and Julia Collin Davison would become the hosts of America’s Test Kitchen, starting the show’s 17th season.
”Bridget and Julia have been cooking our signature, foolproof recipes in hundreds of episodes,” said Mary Mullaney, the executive producer for ATK, in a statement. ”They’ve earned the trust of the home cooks that love our show, and it makes sense to have them lead our ensemble cast into season 17.”
Christopher Kimball was the previous host of the cooking show America’s Test Kitchen. He remained a minority stockholder until 2019.
But, he left the company in 2015 after a contract dispute. America’s Test Kitchen is filmed a year in advance, so Kimball was the on-air host for the rest of 2016.
Boston Common Press (the parent company of America’s Test Kitchen) CEO David Nussbaum said: ”We know this change will be a surprise to many, but we are confident that the ensemble cast will continue to offer our audiences the same high-quality product going forward.”
