Gary Cohn is the former White House chief economic adviser and Goldman Sachs president.
He was born on August 27, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, as Gary David Cohn.
Gary was diagnosed with dyslexia during his childhood.
In 1982, Cohn earned a business degree from American University. After college, Cohn worked at the U.S. Steel for a while.
In 1990, he began a career in finance at The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
In 2003, Cohn was named co-head of Equities.

Cohn resigned from the administration in March 2018 amid a disagreement with Trump’s tariff policies, who announced plans to impose a 10% tariff on aluminum imports and a 25% tariff on steel imports.
”He is a rare talent, and I thank him for his dedicated service to the American people,” Trump said in a statement to The New York Times.
”I am grateful to the President for giving me this opportunity and wish him and the Administration great success in the future,” Cohn said in a statement provided by the White House.
In October 2018, Gary joined Spring Labs as an advisor. The company is developing the Spring Network, a protocol designed to transform how data and information are shared worldwide.
”I have been very interested in blockchain technology for a number of years, and Spring Labs is developing a network that could have profound implications for the financial services sector, among others,” he told Bloomberg.
In January 2019, Mr. Cohn joined the board of directors of Machine Zone, a global market leader in mobile gaming. ”I’m excited about the strength of MZ’s mission to unite people around the globe in real-time through gaming, which is one of the fastest-growing sectors in entertainment,” he said at the time.
He served as a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School in 2019.
In October 2019, Gary joined Hoyos Integrity Corporation as an investor and member of its Board of Advisors. Hoyos is an American technology company that provides secured communications technologies.
”Hoyos is a unique company in the world of secure voice and data communications and the use of biometrics,” Gary said in a press release.
Gary was appointed to the Risk & Governance Advisory Board at Starling Trust Sciences in April 2020.
In August 2020, Cohn launched Cohn Robbins Holdings Corp alongside Clifton S. Robbins. Cohn Robbins Holdings Corp. operates as a blank check company. Board members include – Anne Sheehan, Alex T. Robertson, C. Robert Kidder, and Kathryn A. Hall.
On January 5, 2021, Cohn was appointed vice-chairman of IBM.

In 2021, Cohn appeared on the mini-series documentary ”Trump Takes on the World.”

Gary Cohn is married to Lisa Pevaroff-Cohn.
Gary and Lisa have served as co-chairs of the annual Hamptons Paddle & Party for Pink event.
The two are also founding board members of the NY University Child Study Center.
