Kyle Thousand is an American sports agent and businessman.
He is best known as the former head of the baseball division of Roc Nation Sports.
The Origin Story
Kyle Thousand is a native of Sioux City, Iowa.
He was born and raised in the city and attended the local Sioux City North High School.
Following graduation, he attended the University of Iowa, from which he graduated with a degree in finance.
During his time at the University of Iowa, Thousand was an avid baseball player and one of the Iowa Hawkeyes’ best players.
In 2003, he had the highest batting average, hits, runs, doubles, and stolen bases.
At one point, Thousand was the third-best player in the country.

Following his collegiate baseball career, Thousand was briefly a professional baseball player.
He was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2003.
Unfortunately, his career lasted less than a season; he tore a muscle in his shoulder and was no longer able to play professionally.
Kyle instead decided to focus on his legal career.
Legal Career
Thousand attended Creighton University School of Law in 2003.
He graduated in 2007 and began work at a Chicago law firm, where he worked in the Sports and Entertainment division.
Due to his background in baseball, Thousand was a natural fit as a lawyer focusing on sports; he continued to follow this path and, at one point, represented both the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bulls.
Thousand entered the sports agency business in 2011, working on behalf of Excel Sports Management.

Thousand left Excel Sports Management in 2015 to work for Roc Nation Sports, a subdivision of the entertainment agency owned by rapper Sean “Jay-Z” Carter.
Thousand became Managing Director of the baseball subdivision of the agency, which represents some of baseball’s biggest stars.
During his tenure, Thousand has been behind some of the biggest contract negotiations in the history of US baseball.
In 2016, Thousand negotiated a historic contract for baseball player Yoenis Cespedes with the New York Mets.
The 3-year, $75-million-dollar contract was the biggest ever negotiated for an outfielder, and included a guaranteed $27.5 million if Cespedes decided to opt out after his first year.
A great deal of the reason for the success of this historic deal has been attributed to Thousand’s work on the deal.

Thousand is a resident of New York City, New York – the same place in which his company is headquartered.
In January 2020, Kyle Thousand became engaged to sportscaster and television personality Charissa Thompson.

The couple married in December of that year; the ceremony was necessarily small – with only ten guests in attendance – because of the ongoing recent events that were sweeping the world.
“When you get married twice, the second one’s always better than the first one,” Charissa said in an interview in February 2021.
Divorce
In April 2022, the couple announced that they were divorcing. Thompson cited “irreconcilable differences” with her husband but did not elaborate beyond this.
Both Thousand and Thompson removed all traces of one another from their respective Instagram accounts.
Following their divorce, Charissa was linked to Steven Cundari, the co-founder of Summit House.
