Lee Roy Parnell is an American country music artist who has released nine studio albums.
Biography
He was born on December 21, 1956, in Abilene, Texas, USA.
His father was a close friend of American Western swing musician Bob Wills — dubbed as ”the king of western swing.” Wills was inducted into The Country Music Hall of Fame in 1968.
At age 6, Lee began his music career on Bob Wills’s local radio show.
”My father and Bob Wills were friends from the time they were little boys. Lifelong friends,” he told KXXV in a 2019 interview. Parnell added: ”I referred to them as Uncle Bob and Aunt Bettie.”
In 1987, Parnell moved to Nashville and became a regular performer at the Bluebird Café.
In 1989, Lee inked a deal with Arista’s Nashville division.
Debut Album
On April 10, 1990, Parnell released his self-entitled debut album via Arista Records. Barry Beckett produced the album. It includes the singles Family Tree, Oughta Be a Law, and Crocodile Tears.
On April 28, 1992, Lee released his second album – ”Love Without Mercy” via Arista Records.
The singles Love Without Mercy, Tender Moment, and What Kind of Fool Do You Think I have reached the Top Ten on the Billboard Country charts.
On October 26, 1993, he released another album, ”On the Road.” It reached number 26 on the Top Country Albums chart.
On June 17, 1997, Lee Roy released his 5th album, ”Every Night’s a Saturday Night,” via Career Records. It includes the singles All that Matters Anymore, You Can’t Get There from Here, and Lucky Me, Lucky You.
In 1998, Parnell portrayed J.J. Tarpin in Walker, Texas Ranger, a television series starring Chuck Norris.
On August 24, 1999, Parnell released the album – ”Hits and Highways Ahead.” The album reached number 63 on the Top Country Albums chart.
In 2000, he signed to Vanguard Records. In the same year, Lee Roy made a guest appearance on the TV series ”18 Wheels of Justice.”
On June 12, 2001, Lee released the album ”Tell the Truth” via Vanguard Records.
On March 7, 2006, Parnell released his 8th album named – ”Back to the Well” via Universal South Records.
In 2013, he performed at the Outlaws show that starred country singer Merle Haggard (passed away on April 6, 2016).
On August 11, 2017, Lee released an album titled – ”Midnight Believer” via Vector Records. It was named among the Top 10 Blues albums of 2018.
In 2018, he was on HGTV’s hit show “Buying & Selling with the Property Brothers” to sell his house. ”I wanted to get my house ready for my soon-to-be blended family, or get it on the market to sell quickly so we could move into something new,” Lee said.
