What Is Nardwuar’s Net Worth?

Nardwuar the Human Serviette, born John Ruskin, is a Canadian interviewer who has a net worth of $2 million.

He is known for his comedic, aggressive, and unexpectedly in-your-face interviews and his trademark interview-ending “Doot doola doot doo” – which his respondents have to answer with a “Doot doot.”

Some of his most famous chats include Iggy Pop, Jay-Z, former U.S. President Gerald Ford, Snoop Dogg, Henry Rollins, Katy Perry, and Nirvana.

He is also the lead singer and keyboardist for The Evaporators.

He was born on July 5, 1968, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

His mother was a high school history teacher and journalist, while his dad was an engineer.

He went to Hillside Secondary School in West Vancouver.

In 1986, Ruskin changed his name to Nardwuar.

In 1987, John made his debut as a radio show on CiTR at the University of British Columbia.

His first interview was with Art Bergmann, one of the key figures in Canadian punk rock in the late 70s and the lead singer for Vancouver punk stalwarts Young Canadians.

The reason why I chose them to play the dance was [because] before they were called Poisoned, they were called the Young Canadians,” he told Now Toronto.

In 1990, Nardwuar the Human Serviette told then leader of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev to ”Keep rockin’ in the free world” in Russian. He also asked Gorbachev: ”Of all the political figures Dr. Gorbachev has encountered, who has the largest pants?”

The news conference presenter commented: ”Gorbachev took the nonsense in stride, looking a little confused and little bemused. The man was questioned by the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) but appeared to have been properly accredited for the news conference.”

In 1999, Nardwuar received a position at Much Music in Canada as a freelance correspondent.

He was released from Vancouver General Hospital six days later. He tweeted: ”Discharged @nardwuar from VGH  Stroke Unit today. Outlook surgery in Feb. Thanks for all the support & Tweets!”

His first interview since suffering a stroke was with multi-instrumentalist Ty Segall.

I had the stroke in December, and my first interview back was in January,” Nardwuar said in an interview. He continued: ”I decided in my mind I would just go for it. I didn’t want to retreat.

On January 25, 2016, he underwent surgical repair of a patent foramen ovale at Vancouver General Hospital to block a small opening in his heart, named the foramen ovale.

Patent foramen ovale (PFO) is a normal fetal communication between the left and right atria that persists after birth.

The procedure (Patent foramen ovale, also referred to as “hole in the heart”) involves piping a catheter through a vein in the thigh up into the heart and using umbrella technology.

I had a brain hemorrhage in 1999, so when I had a stroke in 2015, I was like, ‘Here we go again,’” Nardwuar told GQ. ”It turned out it wasn’t my brain, there was like a hole in the heart.

In June 2019, he was inducted into the B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame for three decades of interviewing some of the world’s most famous politicians, actors, and musicians. ”I am so honored to be on that list,” he said. ”I’m still trying to win the Emmy. I’m still trying to win the Juno.”
