Ta-Nehisi was made a member of Phi Beta Kappa at Oregon State University in 2016.

On October 3, 2017, he published a collection of essays that Coates originally wrote for The Atlantic magazine between 2008 and 2016, called – ”We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy.”

In July 2018, Ta-Nehisi left his position as a national correspondent for The Atlantic.

Ta-Nehisi Coates is married to Kenyatta Matthews. He first met his wife when they were both students at Howard University.
