Voddie was born to African-American parents on March 11, 1969.

He was born and raised in a non-religious single-parent household in Los Angeles, California.

He did, however, become a Christian when he was 18 years old.

Voddie was a cornerback at New Mexico State University during his collegiate football career.

He went on to Rice University in Houston, Texas, after that.

After a Christian epiphany, he gave up his dreams of being a professional football player and enrolled at Houston Baptist University.

Baucham did not grow up believing in Christianity; instead, he chose to become so as an adult.

He wanted to start his ministry after getting his Ph.D. in Theology; thus, he founded Voddie Baucham Ministries in 1993.

Voddie’s book, Family Driven Faith: Doing What It Takes to Raise Sons and Daughters Who Walk with God, is well-known.

Baucham also served as a pastor at Grace Family Baptist Church in Spring, Texas, a local congregation of the Southern Baptist Convention.

He is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention’s board of directors and is one of its modern figureheads.

In February of 2021, he suffered a heart attack.

A Gofundme account put up for his medical needs garnered nearly 1.3 million dollars in just five days. At the time of writing, the amount passed $1.4 million.

The money raised far exceeded his treatment’s expected $1 million costs.

He underwent a quadruple bypass heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.

“He came through quad bypass surgery well late last night,” Thomas Ascol wrote on Twitter. He added: “Had a good night.”

“My condition is much improved,” he wrote on Instagram on February 22, 2021. “We have a clear, aggressive, and promising treatment plan.”

He is currently in good health.

If we are including his car and house in him this estimate, that is not a very large net worth.

This God fearing man preaches the TRUE gospel. I enjoy listening to his no nonsense teaching. There is no compromise to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I do like listening to his ministries, however I fear that all the importance of money and great wealth is in it's self not Godly. I don't think wealth is always bad, depending on how it is achieved, but when it is created by preaching and teaching the gospel I feel that it is tainted. God bless all.

@Mark, because Christians are supposed to be poor beggars?
