Where are The Island Boys from?

Where are The Island Boys originally from? Also, where do The Island Boys live?

Introduction

Love them or hate them, there’s no denying that the Island Boys were one of the biggest viral sensations on the internet at the end of 2021.

The South Florida rap duo is famous for one song: I’m an Island Boy.

If you haven’t heard it, it’s a pretty catchy tune, and it went viral across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and effectively every middle school and high school in the US following its release on TikTok in October of 2021.

It’s been parodied countless times, and mocked relentlessly by celebrities that, include Snoop Dogg and Kevin Hart, in this video that racked up 17 million views.

Considering that the song’s official music video had been viewed on YouTube 21 million times, and the original had only amassed half of that before it was taken down, that’s no small feat.

With lyrics that mainly consist of the phrase “I’m an Island Boy,” the song became one of the biggest viral jokes of the year.

After a TikTok video of the fraternal twins freestyling their song in what looks like a hot tub went viral, big-time rapper Kodak Black offered to sign the pair.

Kodak Black—the artist behind the Painting Pictures album that hit #3 on the US Billboard 200—famously had his sentence for weapons possession commuted by Donald Trump during his one-term presidency.

Franky and Alex Venegas turned down to deal, and have operated as influencers and indie artists ever since.

Despite their polarizing nature—and maybe even because of it—the Island Boys gained a cult following. And all their fans had questions.

Like: Do the Venegas brothers have any other songs? Where are the Island Boys from?

Here are the answers you need.

Do the Island Boys have any other songs?

While the Island Boys of West Palm Beach are only known for this one track, each has discography credits of their own.

Flyysoulja released his feature-length studio album, 17, in 2022.

He receives upwards of 80,000 listeners per month.

Kodiyakredd followed his brother that same year with his debut album, TRENDSETTERS. TRENDSETTERS is home to tracks like Temporary, Way of Life, and Puttin’ My Vest On, as well as a couple of tracks featuring his brother Flyysoulja.

According to Spotify, Kodiyakredd attracts 4,500 listeners per month on the platform.

What are the Island Boys’ real names?

First up, we’ve got Franky Venegas.

His rap name is Kodiyakredd—AKA Redd4x—and he’s the older of the fraternal twins.

Next up is Alex Venegas—AKA Flyysoulja.

He may be the younger brother by a few minutes, but he’s arguably the more successful of the two when it comes to listeners and fans on online music streaming platforms.

The pair were born on July 16, 2001.

Where are The Island Boys from?

Frank “Franky” Venegas and his brother Alex hail from West Palm Beach, Florida.

The twins lost their dad when they were just 6 years old, and have been raised by their mom ever since. According to interviews given by the Island Boys in 2021, the pair were excited to take care of their mom once they’d made some money.

Information that was shared by the boys’ former manager, however, claims that the family was already in a good financial position thanks to their parents—and that they didn’t live the “thug life” they claim.

Their manager—who claims the Venegas boys owe him $150,000—isn’t the only one to shell out details of their personal lives.

The Island Boys have been doxxed by fans and haters equally online, with people sharing their address and family details.

Around the same time that the Venegas brothers were getting their information leaked online, they were also being accused of cultural appropriation for claiming Hispanic roots.

As it turns out, though, the boys are entitled to claim those roots—they are Cuban.

Franky and Alex recorded a call to their mother in 2021 in which they asked her to say out loud where they were from.

In the call, the boys’ mother said that they were born in Florida.

With more prompting, she said that both she and her late husband—the Venegas twins’ father—were Cuban.

The couple had both Cuban and Spanish ancestry, and had moved from Cuba to the US in the mid-90s.

Where do The Island Boys live now?

Despite a TikTok video the boys uploaded in 2021 to say they had purchased a home for $4 million, it turns out they were renting it.

The NW 120th Drive, Coral Springs, home has 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and a luxury pool, and was estimated to cost between $3,400 and 3,750 per month in rent.

As the boys were too young and had no credit history at the time, the property was rented in a friend’s name.

After a couple of serious incidents involving police attending callouts to the property, the boys moved out in early 2022.

According to a local news website, the Coral Springs Talk, police visited the property in March of 2022 after a woman called the police and alleged she was battered by Franky Venegas.

Several months earlier, police raided the house in search of Andrew Thomas, who was wanted in connection with the death of an 8-year-old girl.

Thomas is now facing multiple charges.

The house sold to a new owner for $1.6 million in October of 2022, and the Island Boys’ place of residence is unknown.
