Illenium (real name – Nick Miller) is an American music producer, musician, and DJ with a debut studio album titled ”Ashes,” which peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
He has distinguished himself from the myriad of others through an unrivaled ability to create an immersive experience that has captivated audiences across the country.
He was born on May 8, 1992, in San Francisco, USA. His real name is Nick Miller.
Nick began producing electronic music in 2008, and became passionate about working on his first release after seeing Bassnectar (real name – Lorin Ashton, an American DJ and record producer) perform.
Miller got his start on the scene when he released his 2013 debut self-titled EP with Prep School Recordings, an LA-based record label which was founded in 2012.
In 2015, his single “I’ll Be Your Reason” was released by Nest (a sub-label of Skrillex’s OWSLA label).
In early 2016, Miller released his debut artist album ”Ashes,” which earned him the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Electronic Album Chart.
Also, Ashes peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, and at number 6 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
Since then, he’s launched his own label, Kasaya Records, and played to numerous concerts, each growing bigger and more devoted than the last.
Nick launched the record label called Kasaya Recordings in tandem with Mr. Suicide Sheep’s label, Seeking Blue.
He said during an interview:
“I was really surprised at how well [my first] album was received. I had zero clue what was going to happen, and I think that really inspired me. Being able to travel the world really helped.”
In 2017, Miller returned with his 2nd full-length album, entitled ”Awake,” that peaked at number seven on the Billboard dance charts.
”I think a lot of comes from the way I create music. I see music as this healing thing where I go in by myself and it’s like this serene area where I don’t feel any pressure and it’s emotional healing so naturally, that creates emotional music.”
He later added:
”I think that’s just how it works where people connect to that.”
On November 10, 2017, he has embarked on his first headlining tour, The Awake Tour, that was accompanying his album Awake.
”Awake will be a mix of emotional melodic with some really chill stuff thrown in. There will be vocal songs, a few sleepy time songs, some instrumental tracks with vocal chops, with the Ashes sound interspersed throughout.”
”A lot of different things meshed together. There will also be more recorded elements – guitar, hi-hats, drums.”
In 2017, he won Remix of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards for his “Say It” Flume remix.
In 2018, a remix set of his Awake album arrived, along with a slew of singles, including “Gold (Stupid Love)” and “God Damnit” with Call Me Karizma and with Shallows and Excision.
In July 2018, before the release of his single “Take You Down,” Miller posted on his social media about the struggles he and his family had to face and his drug addiction in the past.
Furthermore, Illenium claimed that some of his music is inspired by his journey through drug addiction.
In 2018, he was on a tour in the US, with sold-out shows in Chicago, San Francisco, and New York City as a continuation of his newly-defined live concept.
On January 29, 2019, it was announced that Miller will perform at the Indy 500 Snake Pit on May 26, 2019, along with Alesso, Skrillex (real name – Sonny John Moore, an American singer, songwriter, record producer, DJ, and musician), and Chris Lake.
On August 16, 2019, he released his 3rd studio album, titled – ”Ascend.”
Illenium is dating Lara McWhorter, an Instagram star who is known for her stylistic posts that feature unique accessories and clothing from Pepper Mayo, Planet Blue, and the Rockii Store.
When asked about how his music changed over time, he responded:
”I think a big thing that’s been changing in my music is just the sound quality. The more you practice something the better you get and I feel like I’ve learned a lot about how to get something to really sound good.”
Miller later added:
”I try to keep my music pretty eclectic and not get bogged down in one genre which really helps me not get creatively stuck.”
On January 24, 2019, Nick released “Crashing” featuring Bahari.
At the start of 2019, Miller sellout his three Red Rocks Amphitheatre shows, a rock structure near Morrison, Colorado.
On November 30, 2018, Miller released his remix of “Without Me” by Halsey.
In 2013, he moved to Denver, Colorado.
He teamed up with Sirma for one of the songs on this EP, after hearing DropTalk’s remix of Wanderer.
