The young man is a Mexican singer, rapper, musician, and guitar player who achieved national success in late 2022 with the release of his third album ‘El Belicon’ along with Raul Vega.
After the release of his song ‘Ella Baila Sola’ however, he achieved global success, taking the song to number four on the Billboard Hot 100. The success of this song boosted the musician’s stock, earning him fans all over the globe.

Is Peso Pluma Valentin Elizalde’s son?
Valentin Elizalde was a Mexican singer and songwriter born in 1979, who sadly passed away in 2006, aged just 27. He was gunned down in his vehicle after performing at a concert in Mexico.
Elizalde, along with his driver, was brutally murdered.
Many believe that he was murdered because of his performance in the ‘corrido.’ His song was said to have contained lyrics that antagonized a local drug trafficking gang. His alleged murderer was arrested three years later.
Following his death, Elizalde was posthumously nominated for the Grammy Awards in 2007.
Because of his Mexican heritage, and his musical style, many have speculated that Peso Pluma is actually the son of Elizalde.
So, is Peso Pluma Valentin Elizalde son? Well, we can say with great confidence that Peso is NOT Elizalde’s son.
Not only is there no evidence to suggest that Valentin was Peso’s son, but there is no evidence to suggest that they were ever related.

Despite the two not being father and son or even being related, it turns out that there is some form of connection between the two, after all.
Peso has stated numerous times that the music and musical style of Valentin Elizalde, along with other musicians such as Ariel Camacho, helped get him interested in making music and performing.
His stage name has boxing origins

Peso Pluma’s stage name translates to ‘featherweight,’ which you may or may not be aware is an official boxing weight class division.
This is no accident.
It turns out that Peso decided upon this name after a conversation with a former pro boxer.
After speaking to pro boxer Marco Antonio Barrera, the young musician asked the boxer if he had any suggestions for a stage name for the singer and his band.
Barrera, who is one of the all-time greats, suggested ‘Peso Pluma’ because this was the division in which he picked up the scepter of the World Boxing Organization and the World Boxing Council during the 2000s.
TikTok helped him become a star

Although it’s largely full of pointless challenges, misinformation, and plenty more besides, TikTok can occasionally do some good as well.
The app helped Peso become a star when his songs ‘PRC’ and ‘AMG’ both went viral on TikTok.
The songs were huge in the Latin community, which then gave him the tools and confidence needed to grow.
Pluma would go on to perform ‘Ella Baila Sona,’ which really transformed him into a global music megastar.
In fact, as of this writing, Peso is the act that has more Spanish-language song entries in the USA than any other performer.
When you consider some of the greats who have performed over the years, that is quite the feat.
His first festival

When you see Peso Pluma perform, it’s easy to see why people often ask if Peso Pluma is Valentin Elizalde’s son.
He has the confidence of a musician who has been performing for decades for millions of people worldwide. As we know, however, that is not the case.
Peso was only born in 1999 and did not achieve huge success until near 2023. His very first music festival performance, however, was a biggie!
Peso released a song with Becky G entitled ‘Chanel.’
At Coachella 2023, the actress and singer brought him on stage to perform their song together.
Pluma would also perform his song ‘PRC’ and was blown away by the response from the crowd. They loved it and were singing along and chanting his name.
He made history on ‘The Tonight Show’

Another first for Peso was when he made history on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Peso was invited onto the show to perform his smash hit ‘Ella Baila Sonna.’
The performance went down a treat with the audience and Jimmy himself, but it was also a history-making performance.
Why? Because it meant that Peso became the first regional Mexican musician to perform on the show.

As well as crediting Elizalde as being one of his main inspirations, Peso has aspirations to perform with musicians from the modern era.
In particular, there are two names on his radar.
Peso has stated that he would love to perform with both Drake and Bad Bunny.
He listened to them as he was growing up and would love to perform alongside his idols.
If his success carries on the way it has, it’s highly likely that this will indeed happen in the not-too-distant future.
