What disease does Sunny Hostin have?
Introduction
If you’re a fan of daytime TV, you will, of course, know exactly who Sunny Hostin is.
Just in case you don’t, however, let’s just say that she is synonymous with daytime TV and is a very popular, and very talented talk show host.
Sunny Hostin, or rather, Asuncion ‘Sunny’ Cummings Hostin, is a very intelligent woman and a very accomplished host.
She is a lawyer, TV host, author, and journalist with legions of loyal fans from all over the country and, indeed, all across the globe as well.
Currently co-host on ABC’s ‘The View,’ Sunny also works as an analyst on ABC News.
Some people will know her best, however, for her work on ID’s (Investigation Discovery) true-crime series ‘Truth about Murder with Sunny Hostin.’
Because she is a household name and has accomplished so much, there are plenty of rumors about her circulating online.
One such rumor is that she is sick with a disease. But is this true, or is it simply a case of the internet doing what it does best?
Let’s take a look at what disease Sunny Hostin has.
Who is Sunny Hostin?
Asuncion ‘Sunny’ Cummings Hostin was born October 20th, 1968, in the city of New York.
She is of Puerto Rican and African-American heritage.
Hostin grew up in The Bronx and attended an all-girls school.
She speaks both fluent English and Spanish.
Her first TV job came about as a commentator for Court TV.
The higher-ups at Fox were so impressed that they offered her a spot on the Fox News show ‘The O’Reilly Factor.’ She was signed to the network full-time in 2007.
It was in 2014, however, that people really started taking note of Sunny when she appeared frequently as a guest contributor on the daytime TV show ‘The View.’
Hostin would go on to appear in numerous other TV shows and would even land a cameo appearance as herself in the comedy movie Girls Trip, starring Regina Hall and Queen Latifah.
As her career grew, she began trying her hand at new things and began hosting her podcast and even bringing out her novel which she called ‘Summer on the Bluffs.’
A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Hostin is married to an orthopedic surgeon called Emmanuel Hostin.
The couple have a boy and a girl together.
So, what disease does Sunny Hostin have?
Because of her fame and because of how easily misinformation is shared and spread around online, a lot of people have found themselves concerned about Sunny recently, because of rumors about her health.
People often ask, ‘what disease does Sunny Hostin have?’ due largely to the fact that there were some recent reports online that stated that Sunny may have been ill.
As far as we can tell, however, Sunny Hostin is not sick, she doesn’t have a mystery illness or disease, and her fans needn’t be concerned about her health. So, where did the rumors come from? Well, it could be because of a condition her daughter suffers with.
Recently, Sunny revealed that her daughter Paloma was born with a rare disease affecting her eyes, which made it difficult for her to read and see.
The disease in question is known as ‘Brown Syndrome,’ and it can have devastating consequences for those affected.
What is Brown Syndrome?
The reason why people have been asking what disease Sunny Hostin has is likely down to the fact that Sunny recently went public with news that her daughter has a rare disease affecting her vision.
Known as Brown Syndrome, the disease may not be life-threatening, but it can still be devastating.
The disease is characterized by one eye looking “normal” for want of a better word and another eye being unable to point or look upwards, i.e., when looking at the nose.
Brown Syndrome usually sets in from birth, as is the case with Paloma, though some people may be affected by it later on in life on rare occasions.
The disease affects the eye’s ability to move by affecting the mobility of the tendon attached to the exterior of the eyeball.
Sunny has stated that her daughter has struggled to read and that she requires special devices to help her.
She admits that it has been a struggle.
Not only that, but people affected by the disease may also find themselves feeling self-conscious.
Browne Syndrome, or Brown’s Disease, as it is also known, is rare, so not a great deal is known about it.
Sunny and Paloma both hope that, by going public with Paloma’s issues with the disease, it will help others to seek help, not feel embarrassed, and raise awareness in the process.
In some cases, Brown’s Disease will get better as people grow older, though sometimes sufferers need to wear an eyepatch for a few hours each day to prevent the affected eye from becoming lazy.
Where did the Sunny Hostin disease rumors start?
Again, we can’t say for certain, but it is likely that the reason for so many rumors surrounding Sunny’s health came about because of Paloma’s condition.
Sunny is fit and healthy and to the best of our knowledge, she has no underlying health issues and no diseases.
It’s likely that when Sunny went public with the news that her daughter had a rare disease affecting her eyes, people mistook this as Sunny claiming that she herself had the condition.
Another possible reason is simply the fact that people assumed that Paloma had Brown’s Disease because Sunny had it.
As we know, however, that is not the case, and Sunny Hostin does NOT have Brown’s Disease/Syndrome.
