His father, Gordon, played big-time college football at Syracuse University.
His great-grandfather, Ignatius, was an Olympic cyclist.
His brothers are Rob, Gordie, Glenn, and Dan Gronkowski. Rob Gronkowski played in the NFL for 11 seasons, while Gordie Jr. played baseball.

His mother, Diane Gronkowski, a.k.a. Mama Gronk, said, “It was a lot of work raising them” and that she used to buy two gallons of milk a day and 40 pounds of chicken breast per week. In 2022, Diane published the book — “How an Average Supermom Raised Five Professional Athletes.”
Chris attended the University of Maryland, where he played as a fullback.
In January 2007, Gronkowski transferred to the University of Arizona, where he played as a linebacker.

Dallas Cowboys
In April 2010, Chris was signed by the Dallas Cowboys. On September 19, Gronkowski made his first career start against the Chicago Bears.
Chris was waived on September 3, 2011. He had five carries for 17 yards and seven catches for 35 yards.
In September 2011, the Indianapolis Colts claimed him off waivers.
In May 2012, Chris was traded to the Denver Broncos for defensive back Cassius Vaughn.
”Our team has a lot of depth in the secondary, and this is an opportunity for us to add a quality fullback to our roster,” Broncos boss John Elway said.
Gronkowski wasn’t re-signed after the season.

In 2017, Chris founded Ice Shaker, a company that makes kitchen-grade stainless steel insulated bottles.
”Ice Shaker is the only bottle you will need to live an active and healthy lifestyle,” Gronkowski told Spartan. He added: ”It started because I was sick of having to use multiple bottles throughout the day — one for work, one for the car, one for the gym, and so on.”
In October 2017, he appeared on ABC’s “Shark Tank” and pitched his company on Shark Tank with the help of his brothers that have played professional sports.
While on Shark Tank, Gronkowski revealed that in the first six months since starting Ice Shaker, he sold around $80k worth of cups.
Chris received an investment from Alex Rodriguez and Mark Cuban for a 15 percent stake in the company for $150k.
