What was Lil JoJo’s net worth at the time of his death?

Introduction

Lil JoJo (real name – Joseph Coleman) was an American rap artist who is best known for his first song, “3hunnaK.”

Lil had a prominent beef with rival Chicago rappers Lil Reese, Lil Durk, and Chief Keef.

After stirring up some controversy with fellow Chicago rapper Chief Keef’s entourage, Coleman was tragically shot to death.

Biography

He was born on April 6, 1994, in Chicago, IL, USA.

He grew up on the city’s Southside.

After his father was sentenced to 13 years in prison for attempted murder, JoJo was raised and brought up by his mother, who was left to take care of him.

In 2012, he embarked on his music career, with the release of his first single, BDK (3hunnak). In this song, the rapper aimed at the enemy gang called, Black Disciples.

Actually, this song is considered to be aimed towards fellow Chicago rappers Lil Reese, Lil Durk, and Chief Keef, with whom Coleman had a feud.

Note – the title of the single (BDK) is short for “Black Disciples Killer.”

Following his early success, Coleman released other Black Disciples diss tracks, including:

  • JoJo World;
  • I Got that Sack;
  • Have it All;
  • Tied Up’.

In many of his songs, Coleman can be heard saying the ‘3hunnak’, ‘300k’, and ‘BDK’; these are all various names the Black Disciples go by.

The 18-year-old rapper was killed in a drive-by shooting in Englewood on September 4, 2012, in Chicago, US.

JoJo was riding on his push bicycle when an unknown gunman drove by in a vehicle before exiting the vehicle and shooting Joseph.

The rapper died from gunshot wounds in his back.

Interestingly, shortly before being shot, Coleman wrote his location on Twitter, which caused the official investigators to think this was actually a targeted hit.

His death came after a bitter war of words with affiliates of Chief Keef – a hip-hop star who rose to fame after Kanye West remixed one of his tracks, – ”I Don’t Like.”

In addition, at 4:04 p.m. on Sept. 4, Coleman posted a YouTube video of himself and his friends driving into Chief Keef’s territory. JoJo and his friend were shouting insults at one of Chief Keef’s best buddies, named – Lil Reese, an American rapper who is best known for his collaborations with  Fredo Santana and Chief Keef.

Keef mocked the slain of JoJo on Twitter, and he later claimed that his account was “hacked.”

A mixtape called Jojo World was released posthumously. The mixtape included numerous of his most popular songs like –  I Got Dat Sack and BDK.

The area where the 18-year-old rapper was gunned down is located approximately a block from where the family of Jennifer Hudson (American actress and singer who rose to fame as a finalist on the 3rd season of American Idol) was murdered in 2008.

Joseph collaborated with artists like:

  • Lil Durk (an American songwriter, singer, and rapper who is the leader of his own collective, called – ”Only the Family”);
  • P. Rico (a rap artist who is a member of 069 Bricksquad, a faction of the Gangster Disciples);
  • Young Chop (an American record executive, rapper, and record producer, who gained fame within the hip hop community for producing Chief Keef’s hits “Love Sosa,” “I Don’t Like,” and “3Hunna”).

Soon after Coleman’s death, Gangster Disciples street gang changed their name to “JoJo World.”

Around Christmas time in 2012, Coleman’s best friend, Joshua ‘Jayloud’ Davis, was killed from gunshot wounds in his hips. Joshua ‘Jayloud’ Davis was also an aspiring rapper.

He was wearing a hoodie honoring his best friend saying – “JoJoWorld” in bold print on the night he got killed.

His family declared:

“He was a good kid who got killed because of a hoodie.”

On December 17, 2012, Davis wrote the following on his Twitter:

“I wear my #JOJOWORLD hoodie everywhere f— ah opp.a.”

After he was shot, Joshua was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, Joshua ‘Jayloud’ Davis died there early in the morning.

Joshua had argued with some men on a bus, according to a law enforcement source. After Joshua ‘Jayloud’ Davis got off, they chased after him, and one of the men unleashed a few shots.

His sister Selina Davis said:

 “He was a great boy. He was only a baby.”

Selina later added:

“Kids killing kids. Mothers burying their kids. How is this humanly possible that we as people cannot get these teenagers under control?”

Joshua ‘Jayloud’ Davis’s cousin declared that he warned Davis of the problem which could occur from him wearing the Joseph hoodie, however, Jayloud dismissed his concerns due to the fact that Coleman was his best friend.

The police report didn’t name a piece of clothing as a factor in Jayloud’s shooting, nevertheless, detectives are still investigating the murder.
