Postmaster General
In May 2020, DeJoy was appointed Postmaster General of the United States by the Board of Governors of the United States Postal Service.
”The Board appreciated Louis’ depth of knowledge on the important issues facing the Postal Service and his desire to work with all of our stakeholders on preserving and protecting this essential institution,” Robert M. Duncan, chair of the Board of Governors, said.
Louis replaced Megan Brennan, the seventy-fourth Postmaster General of the US, who announced her intent to retire in October 2019.
DeJoy took office on June 15, 2020.
”Postal workers are the heart and soul of this institution, and I will be honored to work alongside them and their unions,” DeJoy said in a statement.
He is the first postmaster in 20 years without prior experience in the US Postal Service.
”As you will soon discover, I am direct and decisive, and I don’t mince words,” DeJoy told Postal Service employees in a video message in June. He added: ”And when I see problems, I work to solve them.”

On August 7, 2020, Louis announced he had reassigned or displaced 23 senior USPS officials. Later that month, he testified before the House Oversight Committee about his sweeping operational and organizational changes at the Postal Service.
”Had Congress and the PRC fulfilled their obligations to the American public concerning the Postal Service, I am certain that much of our $80 billion in cumulative losses since 2007 could have been avoided,” DeJoy said before the U.S. Senate Committee.
In 2021, DeJoy came under fire for his decision to award an exclusive contract to truck maker Oshkosh Corp that could be worth $6 billion to modernize the USPS fleet. ”We are very, very excited about having a full fleet, or to the greatest extent we can, you know, electric fleet,” he said.

From 2004-2006, Wos served as the US Ambassador to the Republic of Estonia. Aldona also served on the board of the United Way of Greater Greensboro.
From 2013 to 2015, she served as Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. In May 2017, Trump appointed her as Vice-Chair of the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships.
