So, how much is Mario Barrios worth?

As a professional boxer, Mario Barrios makes the majority of his income through prize money, fight purses, and sponsorships.

He has fought as a professional boxer since 2013, racking up a healthy amount in prize money thanks to his 27 wins.

While every fight is different, in a 2021 headline bout with Gervonta Davis, Barrios walked away with 40% of the PPV shares, which was a minimum of $500,000, in spite of him losing the fight.

It is thought that while losing his undefeated record, Barrios left the fight with more than $1.5 million in earnings, softening the blow of defeat somewhat.

In the immediate aftermath of the fight, he spoke positively about the experience and was enthusiastic about returning to the canvas to set the record straight:

“That’s the sport of boxing. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. He [Davis] was the better man that night. From here, I can only go up, and I have a lot still to do in this sport, and I’m excited to just get back to work.”

His fight with Davis was the largest payout of his career up until then. But he was no stranger to high-profile fights with large purses, having picked up significant earnings in various fights throughout his career.

Barrios turned professional in 2013, and his first fight saw him go up against Rigoberto Moreno at Cowboys Dance Hall in San Antonio, Texas, which was the first in a long series of impressive wins for him.

In fact, he would remain undefeated until his 2021 fight with Davis; such was the level of his performance in the early days of his professional boxing career.

But it wasn’t until 2018 that he started to make a name for himself and began appearing in hugely popular PPV fights.

He won the vacant WBA Inter-Continental welterweight title as he defeated Jose Roman at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in March 2018.

His next high-profile title win came in September 2019, when he defeated Batyr Akhmedov by a unanimous decision.

He picked up the WBA (Regular) super lightweight title and went 25-0 in his career. As such, his income started to soar as a result.

For instance, from 2018 to 2020, in fights against Jose Roman, Richard Zamora, Juan Jose Velasco, Batyr Akhmedov, and Ryan Karl (each of which he won), Barrios benefitted from between $75,000 and $250,000 per fight in prize money.

Combined, his fights over that two-year period earned him at least $575,000, which came as a direct result of his PPV share and prize money.

Barrios is sponsored by Attorney Thomas J. Henry, who often appears with the fighter before he takes to the canvas.

Before watching Barrios line up in his headline bout against Davis, Henry said, “I’m proud to stand behind Barrios and officially be part of his team of supporters who believe in the hard work and dedication he has brought to the sport of boxing.”

As a San Antonio native, Henry was delighted to get behind the boxer and has contributed enormously to his success.

The deal that Barrios signed with Henry and his firm is a multi-fight deal that will support him in his upcoming endeavors.

Having a firm with the clout and reputation of Thomas J. Henry behind him will undoubtedly propel Barrios to the forefront of the boxing industry and will ensure he receives more headline fights in the coming years.

Another source of Barrios’ revenue is his paid partnership with Lion Fit Foods, which he promotes through his Instagram profile.

As well as providing him with nutrition in the lead-up to his fights, the food delivery service and coaching team sponsor Barrios and contribute to his net worth.

Therefore, American professional boxer Mario Barrios has an estimated net worth of $3 million.
