He eventually began working as a dishwasher at a restaurant on 75 Main Street.
He worked his way up the ranks from the kitchen to busboy and then to a server and bartender.
He said: “I grew up in my mother’s kitchen when I was a little kid, so it’s always there’s a passion, and I love cooking, and I love the kitchen. I started as a dishwasher, so I knew it was gonna be somewhere. I never minded working as a dishwasher.”
After a while, Zach decided to move on and accepted a job from 2003-2010 at Nello.
When the business was shut down, Zach attempted to return to the restaurant he once worked at, but he realized it had been shut down as well.
Zach got in contact with the owner of the business and purchased the building from them immediately.
On June 11, 2010, 75 Main was officially reopened. Zach’s brother Ali joined him to manage the operations of the business.
75 Main quickly became an iconic restaurant that was frequented by several celebrities, including the Kardashians, the cast of The Real Housewives, and President Joe Biden.
Zach and his brother co-founded the restaurant group, under which they established several restaurants and nightclubs in the Long Island area.

In May 2023, Erdem opened up three new spots in New York.
His new ventures include ZErdem, a full-service Mediterranean-themed restaurant located at 314 Main Street, the ZEY Hotel, and the adjacent Cafe 753.
