In the world of Hollywood, it also isn’t difficult to confuse fact with fiction, especially with so many rumors swirling around online.
For two celebrities to apparently be related to each other, for instance, it seems as if they simply need to look slightly alike or share the same last name.
Jon Cryer and Pete Davidson, for example, are often rumored to be related, but is Pete Davidson related to Jon Cryer, or is this yet another myth created by the internet?

Who is Jon Cryer?

Jon Cryer is an American actor, producer, director, and comedian who is perhaps best known for his role as Alan Harper in the hit comedy series ‘Two and a Half Men’ in which he co-starred in alongside Charlie Sheen.
His second most well-known role is probably in the slapstick comedy spoof of TopGun, ‘Hot Shots,’ which incidentally, also starred Charlie Sheen.
Jon had showbusiness in his blood from birth, as he was born into a showbusiness family.
He made his debut in 1984, appearing in the romantic comedy ‘No Small Affair.’
He got his big break in 1986, however, when he appeared in ‘Pretty in Pink’ which was written by the late, great, John Hughes, who dominated the late 80s and 90s.
Cryer was never short of work, yet he never landed a leading role, he was always in a supporting role. He appeared in film and TV shows for much of the 90s.
It wasn’t until 2003, however, that he really became a global comedic megastar, when he was cast alongside Charlie Sheen in the CBS sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men.’ The show ran for twelve seasons and won multiple awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards for himself.
He is now one of the most recognized faces on TV and even got himself a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for TV back in 2011.
Who is Pete Davidson?

Pete Davidson is a US comedian, singer, producer, actor, and rapper.
He is perhaps best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, although recently, he has found himself in the spotlight due to his unlikely relationship with Kim Kardashian.
The relationship only lasted a less than a year, yet because of Kim’s status and very public split with Kanye West, the couple was everywhere.
Pete’s father, Scott Matthew Davidson, was a New York firefighter who sadly died in 2011 following the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers.
Pete appeared in numerous SNL sketches from 2014 to 2022, as well as in multiple TV shows and movies.
His performance in ‘The Suicide Squad’ was perhaps his biggest role, although it was ‘The King of Staten Island’ that got people talking. Davidson co-wrote the semi-autobiographical comedy-drama, which also featured Steve Buscemi.
Because Steve and Pete both look similar, people often wonder whether they’re related as well.

We’ll look at is Pete Davidson related to Jon Cryer shortly.
First, though, we need to answer this question.
Pete Davidson and Steve Buscemi both look alike, and they also have a similar accent, and because of this, there are rumors currently circulating that claim that Steve Buscemi and Pete Davidson are related.
Some claim that the two are father and son (despite Pete’s dad losing his life in 2001), others claim that they are brothers, and others claim that they are uncle and nephew.
But is this true?
Steve Buscemi and Pete Davidson are NOT related, although they do have a personal connection.
Steve Buscemi used to be a firefighter before he got into movies. In 2011, following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre, Steve Buscemi quietly volunteered as a firefighter once more. He made no fuss, he simply suited up and got to work.
He helped following the attacks and stayed involved for months afterwards. Now, Pete sadly lost his father following the terrorist attacks, and it was here that the two encountered each other for the first time.
Decades later, when Davidson was casting for the movie ‘The King of Staten Island,’ he showed the director a photograph of himself as a child at a ‘Kids for Fallen Firefighters’ event, which also featured none other than Steve Buscemi.
Director Judd Apatow knew this was special and went out of his way to cast Steve Buscemi as a firefighter in the movie, known as ‘Papa.’

Is Pete Davidson related to Jon Cryer?

Okay, we know that Steve Buscemi is not related to Pete Davidson, but what about Jon Cryer?
After all, the two also look uncannily like each other and speak with a similar accent, so could there be any truth to these rumors?
Well, unfortunately, not. Pete Davidson is NOT related to Jon Cryer.
Pete Davidson and Jon Cryer may both look alike, they may both work in comedy, and they may both speak similarly, but that is where the similarities end.
Rumors began circulating when Cryer, after working on ‘Supergirl’ stated that he should play Pete Davidson in the future, because he looks like an older version of the young comedian and actor.
Rest assured, however, the two are not related to each other, though wouldn’t it be awesome if Cryer did end up playing a future version of Pete?
