For many decades now, hip-hop in the USA has been a very up-and-down genre.

As great as these legends were in their prime, however, some would argue that they were past their prime quite a while ago and that young blood (not to be confused with YUNGBLUD) was needed.
Many believe that YBN Almighty Jay, or simply Almighty Jay, could be the young blood that is needed to reinvigorate the music scene, especially the hip-hop genre.
The young American rapper is making waves in the music industry and looks set to potentially be the next breakout star that the rap industry so desperately needs.
But who is the young rapper, how did he get to where he’s at today, and where is YBN Almighty Jay from?

Who is Almighty Jay?

Almighty Jay, or YBN Almighty Jay, as he is perhaps better known, is a US rapper who was a part of the hip hop collective YBN (Young Boss N***AS) before they disbanded in the summer of 2020.
YBN Almighty Jay has since gone on to do his own thing, releasing singles such as ‘Chopsticks’ and ‘Bread Winners’ along with ‘No Hook.’
Born on August 6th, 1998, Jay Gerald Bradley quickly established himself as a musician from a very young age.
After the YBN disbanded, Jay began to gain traction as a solo artist. He would go on to release ‘Chopsticks’ and then ‘No Hook,’ which also featured his friend and fellow former YBN member YBN Nahmir.
Both of these tracks were streamed millions of times on YouTube and platforms such as Spotify.
Jay has been romantically linked with a number of high-profile female musicians in the past and is very popular on social media sites such as TikTok.
Who were the YBN?

YBN was a US hip-hop collective group formed in 2014 and disbanded in 2020.
The group was formed by YBN Nahir, who is also known as Nick Simmons, and featured rappers, social media influencers, YouTubers, producers, and promoters.
The group consisted of YBN Almighty Jay, YBN Nahir, and YBN Cordae.
Despite being largely unknown as they were still finding their feet, the group would release their only individual project together in 2018, which they called YBN: The Mixtape.
In this collaboration, they would work with some seriously big names in the Rap, Hip-Hop, and R&B industries, including Gucci Mane, Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown, Machine Gun Kelly, and Lil Skies.
Interestingly, YBN was not a musical group, but rather, the group was based around gaming.
YBN Nahir actually met YBN Almighty Jay in 2014, while playing Grand Theft Auto V online.
The guys would normally play their games and stream on Twitch, before uploading the videos onto YouTube.
Cordae was the exception, as he was not a big gamer, but was big into his rap.
Their content proved very popular, and as their followers grew, so too did their ambitions.
One night, after a bit of Freestyling on Xbox Live, Almighty Jay and Nahir decided to record a track together.
They called it ‘Hood Mentality,’ and it proved to be a real hit with their followers and subscribers.
Seeing that they were onto something, YBN decided to move away from video game streaming and instead follow their passion and become musicians.
In 2015, tragedy struck when they sadly lost their member YBN Valley, after he tragically died of a heart attack.
The group members started firing off viral hits, including Almighty Jay’s ‘Chopsticks’ in 2017.
Just as the group was beginning to gain traction, however, YBN Nahmir announced on Twitter that the group was disbanding.
Rumors about the group splitting had started earlier when YBN Cordae had changed his Twitter handle simply to ‘Cordae.’

Where is YBN Almighty Jay from?
Despite the group seemingly splitting on good terms, YBN Almighty Jay is certainly one of the most popular and is often in the limelight. People often ask where he hails from. So, where is YBN Almighty Jay from? Well, the young rapper is a Texas native, as he hails from Galveston, Texas, USA.
He is a Texan through and through as he was born and raised in the state and is proud of his roots, as well as he should be.
Who is YBN Almighty Jay in a relationship with?

In February 2018, Jay became romantically linked with model and influencer Blac Chyna.
The relationship was short-lived, however, as they split just 5 months later.
In 2019, he started dating the rapper Dreamdoll, again, the relationship only lasted 5 months.
YBN Almighty Jay’s ‘Baby Mama’ is allegedly a stylist named Dailyn Scott, who met the rapper when she was working as a stylist for one of his music videos.

New York City Incident
In 2019, Almighty Jay was assaulted in New York City.
He was beaten, kicked, punched, stabbed, and robbed.
They stole a substantial amount of money, his jewelry, and other personal belongings of his.
The incident left him badly shaken, and although his injuries weren’t life-threatening, he still received more than 300 stitches and was recovering for a long time.
Jay even rapped about the incident on his track ‘Let Me Breathe’ which was another very popular hit for the young musician.
