Crunchy Black was born Darnell Carlton in August of 1974 in Indiana.

He Gets Shot

In July of 2012, Crunchy Black was a victim of a shooting.
He was shot in both the face and the leg in Las Vegas.
”That the first time,” Crunchy told Vlad TV. He added: ”I never got shot, robbed up, stolen, broke in … because I didn’t trust nobody.”
2014 Arrest
Black was arrested in 2014 for domestic violence charges and cocaine possession while in Minnesota.

In 2015, Crunchy Black was arrested for drug possession.
He was seen roaming the streets of Las Vegas early in the morning when he was arrested; the police were able to pull him over for jaywalking.
According to the police report, Crunchy Black actually incriminated himself, saying, “oh damn. I was trying to buy that powder, not meth,” meaning that he had thought he was purchasing cocaine instead.
To make matters worse, the rapper already had two warrants out for his arrest.

Crunchy’s daughter tragically passed away in August of 2020.
Ashley Richardson was 26-years old when she was found dead in Memphis after a tragic shooting.
He said in an interview, “that was my heart…it’s like when that happened, I just shut down for a minute…I’m still going through it now.”
The rapper is no stranger to pain, as he had been a victim of a shooting himself in July of 2012, when he was shot in both the face and the leg while he was in Las Vegas.
This made his daughter’s death even more painful for him.
He said in an interview, “I got shot and I survived, she got shot and she died.”
He admitted to struggling a lot after her death, insinuating he wanted to hurt himself.
He has since looked at it as a sign to keep striving for greatness, saying, “everything I’ve been doing from that day on is all for her.”
