His mother is Carol Leventhal, the retired director of Greenbelt Cares in Greenbelt, while his father is Dr. Allan Leventhal, a retired psychologist in Silver Spring.
He has a younger sister, Leigh Leventhal (born in 1963), as well as an older brother, Scott Leventhal (born in 1958).
