Why is Big Chief not on Street Outlaws America’s List season 2?

Short answerthe reasons behind Big Chief’s departure from Street Outlaws are still unclear, but it appears that he wanted to focus more on his businesses and spend more time with his family.

Introduction

Big Chief—also known as Justin Shearer—is a pro racer and television personality who won hearts across the nation when he appeared on the Discovery network’s hit racing show, Street Outlaws.

With his big personality and his need for speed, the Louisville, Kentucky, native hails from a big street racing family.

Comfortable behind the wheel at the age of 10, he has risen through the ranks to lead team 405 and appear on many of the Street Outlaws spinoff series.

That’s why fans were so shocked to discover he wasn’t going to be appearing in the second season of Street Outlaws: America’s List when it launched in March of 2022.

Why is Big Chief not on America’s List? was the question on everyone’s lips.

Justin “Big Chief” Shearer was born in Louisville in 1980 before heading to Oklahoma with his family at the age of 12.

By that time, he’d already caught the racing bug—he would bike to the street races on Old Route 66 from the time he was 9 years old.

Over the years, Shearer established himself as the head honcho for OKC street racing.

Want to race?

You’ve got to go through Big Chief.

When he’s not racing, filming for one of the biggest street racing reality television franchises in the game, or spending time with his family and girlfriend, Jackie, he’s working on his latest car project.

What is Street Outlaws: America’s List?

Discovery’s Street Outlaws premiered way back in 2013, following competitors from across the US as they battled it out behind the wheel.

Racing teams from Detroit, Oklahoma City, Memphis, and the wider Texas area were showcased in their hometowns as they faced off to be the best street racer in town.

Nine years and some 13 seasons later, the Street Outlaws franchise is still going strong—and has spawned some killer spinoff shows that have built major fan followings of their own.

One of those spinoffs is Street Outlaws: America’s List.

Taking the Street Outlaws premise to the next level, show favorites like JJ Da Boss, Craig Piligian, and Kye Kelley have gone head to head to be the best racer in the country.

And in season 1, which premiered on Discovery on April 13, 2021, Big Chief joined them in the fray.

Then, in the season 2 premiere on March 21, 2022, Big Chief was notably absent.

While the show promised bigger and better thrills—more list and test races, more insight behind the scenes, and more focus on each competitor, it offered decidedly less of one of the show’s biggest names.

So what happened to Big Chief?

Street racing fans and reality TV viewers took to social media in droves to find out what had happened to Street Outlaws favorite, Big Chief.

Many also noticed that Shearer was absent from the daily driver shootout, and hadn’t uploaded any track testing videos or new content on the YouTube channel for Midwest Streetcars Auto.

Fortunately, some fans were quick to come to his defense, suggesting that their racing idol might not like participating in things he “can’t be highly competitive in” or that he’s not interested in “NPK’s grueling schedule.”

Big Chief weighs in

As the fan discussion around Big Chief’s absence grew—and more and more viewers noticed he wasn’t racing as often in No Prep Kings, Shearer wisely decided to front up on the issue.

He explained that he was out of town in the 405 show but hinted that he expected to reappear later in the season.

He also noted the grueling racing schedule, and how that was impacting his time with his family and in the workshop.

With family time and his work taking priority, it was little wonder the speedster needed to step back a little.

Justin also addressed rumors that Discovery executives had let him go following a heated run in with Precious during the filming of America’s List.

The rumor, according to one source, was that Shearer quit the show following the first driver’s meeting of the season after “he and Jackie got into an argument with Precious.”

The rumor, while it was pretty juicy, didn’t make sense—Big Chief was one of the motivating factors in getting the go-ahead for America’s List in the first place.

Secondly, Shearer’s entire team has not been absent, which would likely be the case if their fearless leader was to walk.

Fortunately, that rumor was unfounded—with Big Chief saying that stepping back “a bit” from the spinoff was all about a conflict in schedules.

What Is Big Chief doing now?

Racing, of course!

Justin Shearer is still spotted doing his thing, participating in big events in OKC, daily driver events, RC car racing, and Cash Days RC events.

Big Chief is also taking himself a little more seriously as a professional street race enthusiast, focusing on Midwest Street Cars projects and appearing at meets and shows to support his massive fanbase.
